Thousands of motorcycles with their drivers and passengers. plus thousands more spectators filled the entirety of Main Street and some of the surrounding streets with a sea of chromium and brilliant paint. This was Motorcycle Mania 2011, an annual event in Middletown, Connecticut for the past several years. Follow are a sampling of photos from the event.

I don't know what motorcycle they rode in on but I am pleased they agreed to be photographed (obligatory eye candy)!

There were a great variety of machines on display including Harleys of every description, Honda comfort bikes, Spyder trikes, and conventional trikes; also spotted was a single Ducati and a Victory. There were quite a few female drivers but always solo and of course the usual pairing of guy driving and gal holding on in back.

No motorcycle rally would be complete without a cast of colorful characters and this event was no exception:

"The Communist Manifesto" and Hitler's "Mein Kampf" were among the favorite reading materials of Jared Lee Loughner, the suspected gunman in today's fatal shooting that reportedly left six dead and gravely injured a U.S. congresswoman.

Lougher, 22, listed those tomes among his favorites on his YouTube channel, in which he wrote that "conscience dreams" were a "great study" at his college, Pima Community College.

One user on Twitter, Caitie Parker, wrote she went to high school, college and was in a band with the gunman. She said she hadn't seen him since 2007.

Parker wrote of Lougher, "As I knew him he was left wing, quite liberal and oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy."

She also described him as "more left."

Lougher also left a trail of bold political statements.

On his now deleted MySpace page, Lougher wrote a series of disjointed rants, including:

"If there's no flag in the Constitution, then the flag in the film is unknown. There's no flag in the Constitution. Therefore, the flag in the film is unknown. Burn every new and old flag that you see. Burn your flag!"

"I bet you can imagine this in your mind with a faster speed. Watch this protest in reverse! Ask the local police, 'What's your illegal activity on duty?'"

"If you protest the government, then there's a new government from protesting. There's not a new government from protesting. Thus, you aren't protesting the government."

Three months ago, Lougher made a YouTube video in which he proclaimed, "I know you're illiterate! This is the greatest protest for exposure into a wrongful act. The school is breaking the Constitution. If you watch the video then you'll understand. The teachers are taking advantage of you in the First and Fifth Amendmen the United States Constitution, which is the law, can be broken at this school."

Historian, author, and former U.S. House of Representatives Speaker, Newt Gingrich, spoke earlier in the day; his speech (35 minutes) titled "Principled Bipartisanship Starts at 2 + 2 = 4" can be viewed here.

Newt's, professorial demeanor lent credence to the seriousness of our Nation's political and economic dilemma and was a stark contrast to the antics of Glenn Beck, who with his ever present chalkboard, outlined the dangers of Progressivism with his, by now, well known delivery of comic gesture, grimace, and patter. Both speakers were quite effective despite their very different approaches to the plight of the U.S.A. in 2010.

The special election to fill the Ted Kennedy U.S. Senate Seat will be held January 19, 2010. We strongly urge everyone who is fed up with Democrat/Liberal machine politics in Boston and Washington to come to the polls on that Tuesday and cast a vote for Scott Brown. About the man and his beliefs:

State Senator Scott Brown has led the fight in Massachusetts against wasteful government spending and higher taxes. He is a free-market advocate who believes our strength as a nation flows from its people. He believes in a culture of family, patriotism and freedom. At his September 12 announcement of candidacy for the U.S. Senate, Senator Brown articulated a core set of beliefs that guide his thinking.

We've dumped Dodd in Connecticut and Dorgan in North Dakota; now let's continue the momentum towards turning our nation back from the disastrous course set by Obama & Co.

Obama History With Cambridge Authorities

There is an interesting sidelight to the Obama-Gates-Police controversy. We are reminded of Obama's presence in Cambridge MA over 20 years ago while a student at Harvard. The Somerville (MA) News reported on March 7, 2007:

Before Barack Obama was a United States senator and a presidential hopeful, he was a Harvard University law student living in Somerville who parked in bus stops and accumulated hundreds of dollars in parking tickets. And for nearly two decades those parking tickets went unpaid, until a representative of Obama’s settled all his outstanding debts with Cambridge’s Traffic, Parking and Transportation Department Jan. 26.

Obama attended Harvard Law School from 1988 to 1991. During his time at Harvard, Obama lived at 365 Broadway in Somerville, according to his parking tickets. Records from the Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation office show that between Oct. 5, 1988 and Jan. 12, 1990 Obama was cited for 17 traffic violations, sometimes committing two in the same day. The abuses included parking in a resident permit area, parking in a bus stop and failing to pay the meter. Twelve of Obama’s 17 tickets were given to him on Massachusetts Avenue.

In one eight day stretch in 1988, Obama was cited seven times for parking violations and was fined $45. Thirteen of the 17 violations occurred within one month in 1988.

Obama’s disobedience of the rules of the road earned him $140 in fines from the City of Cambridge. The tickets went unpaid for over 17 years and $260 in late fees were added to the tab. On Jan. 26, the fines and late fees were paid in full. The final tally for Obama’s parking breaches was $400, according to Cambridge Traffic, Parking and Transportation.

One wonders if Barack Obama's previous encounters with Cambridge authorities predisposed him, in the Gates case, to speak out rashly, and by his own admission, without" knowing all the facts". Obama's propensity to flout the law manifests even today in his unwillingness to prove his eligibility to hold his office and his refusal to reveal much of anything about his past (i.e college records, early writings etc) except what he allows us to know from his published memoirs.

Obama has described as "stupidity" the actions of Cambridge Police Sgt. James Crowley in the arrest of Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates. Prof. Gates, accompanied by a friend, was attempting to break into his own house, which activity a passerby interpreted as an attempted burglary prompting a call to the police. Henry Louis Gates Jr.: I’m outraged. I can’t believe that an individual policeman on the Cambridge police force would treat any African-American male this way, and I am astonished that this happened to me; and more importantly I’m astonished that it could happen to any citizen of the United States, no matter what their race. And I’m deeply resolved to do and say the right things so that this cannot happen again.

They are both out of touch completely. Obama needs to get back to trying to solve the country's real problems. The media's Slobbering Love Affair with Obama continues unabated. We thought nothing could top Chris Matthews's tingley thrill up his leg, but now adulation has been replaced by adoration. Newsweek Editor at Large Evan Thomas has declared Obama is "sort of God".

Contrast that with Thomas responding to a question on whether the media's unfair to Bush on the TV talk show Inside Washington "Well, our job is to bash the president, that's what we do." (February 2, 2007)

of internet search. It is called Wolfram Alpha and goes way beyond
Google in that it does more than just search by keyword and list pages
where information can be found. WA is a computational search engine

...takes the first step towards what many consider to be the internet's
Holy Grail – a global store of information that understands and
responds to ordinary language in the same way a person does.Although
the system is still new, it has already produced massive interest and
excitement among technology pundits and internet watchers. Computer
experts believe the new search engine will be an evolutionary leap in
the development of the internet. Nova Spivack, an internet and computer
expert, said that Wolfram Alpha could prove just as important as
Google. "It is really impressive and significant," he wrote. "In fact
it may be as important for the web (and the world) as Google, but for a
different purpose. Tom Simpson, of the blog
Convergenceofeverything.com, said: "What are the wider implications
exactly? A new paradigm for using computers and the web? Probably.
Emerging artificial intelligence and a step towards a self-organising
internet? Possibly... I think this could be big."

From an article by Nova Spivack at TechCrunch we learn:

In a nutshell, Wolfram and his team have built what he calls a
“computational knowledge engine” for the Web. OK, so what does that
really mean? Basically it means that you can ask it factual questions
and it computes answers for you.
It doesn’t simply return documents that (might) contain the answers,
like Google does, and it isn’t just a giant database of knowledge, like
the Wikipedia. It doesn’t simply parse natural language and then use
that to retrieve documents, like Powerset, for example. Instead,
Wolfram Alpha actually computes the answers
to a wide range of questions — like questions that have factual answers
such as “What country is Timbuktu in?” or “How many protons are in a

....When I heard the audio of Obama on 60 Minutes the other day when Steve Kroft asked him if he was punch drunk as he laughed about the banking crisis, the first thing that came to mind was, "this motherfucker was high as a kite!"....So anyway, for days now I've been chomping at the bit to actually watch the video for one and then for two to post something here to see if I got any responses to this question. Do you think Obama was high on marijuana or some other drug during that interview with Kroft? His reaction was not normal at all. Barack Obama and The Gordian Knot

The bumbling, ancient Archbishop Demetrios, the head of the Greek Orthodox Church in the United States, compared Barack Obama to Alexander the Great.. The Archbishop: "You Mr. President are following the brilliant example of Alexander the Great...you will be able to cut the Gordian Knot of these unresolved issues."

The occasion was a celebration of 188 years of Greek independence and the Archbishop was referring to the problems with Macedonia as issues to be solved by Obama.

We have all seen how Barack Obama fancies himself as a Citizen of the World but, as legend would have it, by solving the the Gordian Knot problem Obama would become Conqueror of the World. The only problem is that Alexander cheated. Instead of untying the Gordian Knot he slashed it with his sword. He was awarded his conqueror status nevertheless. From one account on the web we learn:

The father of gods had ordained that when it came time for the people to select a king, they must choose the first person to ride up to the temple of Zeus in a wagon. Gordius innocently fulfilled the oracle and was made king. (The system might be an improvement over a methods of election held today. Certainly it would eliminate political campaigns). In any event, Gordius seems to have done very well. One of his first acts was to dedicate his wagon to Zeus and to place it near the temple, the yoke tied to the pole by an intricate knot of cornel bark. Another oracle declared that anyone who succeeded in untying the knot would be the conqueror of all Asia. The knot stayed tied until the arrival of Alexander. Then, as everybody knows, he cheated on the oracle by cutting the knot with his sword instead of untying it. Zeus honored his initiative by making the prophecy come true.

Obama said many of the Founding Fathers were students of Greek history and turned to ancient texts for guidance. He said it was a cruel irony that the Greeks tested democracy but then faced a struggle to achieve their own independence 188 years ago. Yes our Founding Fathers did study the histories of Greek and Roman democracies and they concluded that we should have a constitutional republic not a democracy. Pure democracy leads to mob rule, then anarchy, and finally dictatorship.

On last evening's Leno Barack Obama made a lame joke attempt referencing Special Olympics by way of explaining his ineptness at bowling. Cognitively impaired Special Olympics bowler Kolan McConiughey would like to take on Obama in the alley! He'll tear him up! By the way, isn't Obama cognitively disabled when he is without his Teleprompter?

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The top bowler for the Special Olympics looks forward to meeting President Barack Obama in an alley.

"He bowled a 129. I bowl a 300. I could beat that score easily," Michigan's Kolan McConiughey (KO-lahn Mc-KAHNA-he) told The Associated Press in an interview Friday.

The athletic-minded president made an offhand remark Thursday on "The Tonight Show" comparing his weak bowling to "the Special Olympics or something." He quickly apologized and told the Special Olympics chairman he wants to have some of its athletes visit the White House to bowl or play basketball.

McConiughey, who is mentally disabled, is just the bowler for the job. He's bowled five perfect games since 2005.

The 35-year-old McConiughey has been bowling since he was 8 or 9. His advice for Obama? Practice every day.

A German food manufacturer is joining the Obama mania wave. They've introduced "Obama Fingers": tasty crunchy chicken fingers with curry sauce.

(Newser) – A German frozen food company is trying to cash in on Obamania by selling fried Obama fingers, Der Speigel reports. The Southern-style fried chicken snack was renamed as part of an "America week' promotion. Makers say they were unaware that the name could be viewed as insensitive in light of racist stereotypes associating African-Americans with fried chicken.

"It was supposed to be a homage to the American lifestyle and the new US president," said the company's sales manager.

Hey folks, curry sauce is not the condiment of choice for fired chicken below the Mason-Dixon line! Another site notes:

The fingers will probably be off the shelves by April 3, when their namesake is scheduled to visit German Chancellor Angela Merkel. But if they're not, the chancellor should be wary causing utter befuddlement and potential offense to her guest -- and simply serve him up some good old German sausage.

Rachel Lucas blogged about the Obama Fingers the other day.

I think it’s absolutely hilarious. But I really don’t get foreigners’ obsession with this guy, or with America. They bitch about how we think too much of our own importance, but it’s like the nerds in high school bitching about the popular kids while writing the popular kids’ names all over their notebooks with big hearts around them. It’s a little creepy.

The really hilarious part of her article is the comments: "Well Obama has been giving us the finger for a while now", and "You think Obama chicken is racist, just wait until they introduce Obama-wurst", and "As long as they don’t start selling Brazil nuts as “Obama toes,” I guess we’ll survive"and "The last guy the Germans went all ga-ga over was Hitler. Coincidence? I am beginning to think not."

We notice from photographs that Barack Obama has long, supple fingers. He has even been accused of giving Hillary and McCain the finger.

Sinkhole in Guatemala: These photos are of a sinkhole that occurred in Guatemala. The hole swallowed a dozen homes and killed at least three people.

The most terrifying hole of all: This is the famous 'Rat Hole' that you've read so much about lately. It is capable of swallowing trillions upon trillions of U.S. dollars from the real economy each and every year. Most of that money is never seen again.

As he talks down the economy Barack Obama is showing alarming signs of pessimism and paranoia. From The Telegraph (U.K.):

Mr Obama has told Republicans in Washington to stop listening to the right-wing talk show host Rush Limbaugh, risking a new culture war with conservative voters..... After less than a week in office, Mr Obama's presidency is already encountering the very partisan bickering he had pledged to stamp out during his first 100 days....
He... told (Republican House leaders)... to break free of the confrontational mindset epitomised by Mr Limbaugh, the highest paid talk show host in America. "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," Mr Obama said.... His comments followed a blunt attack on him by Mr Limbaugh, who declared on air that he hoped Mr Obama would fail as president because otherwise it will usher in socialism.

How would Americans respond if drug lords from south of the Rio Grande launched missiles (with a blind eye from the Mexican government) onto San Diego and southern U.S.towns, twenty five miles into our border? Would we determine the extent of our wrath by limiting a response to equaling the number of deaths and injuries sustained by our civilians; or our soldiers; or our infra-structure? Would not the police in your town respond with all at their disposal if a threat was at hearth and home? Or would "one" deign to ask for a band aid while the transgressor is huffing and puffing at your very threshhold? I choose to protect my life and limb, property, loved ones, and the right to quiet enjoyment. It is difficult to loose the dogs of war in the midst of cyber-space. Only Western armies even attempt to diminish the risk of civilian casualties, at the cost to the safety of "le soldat". But each casualty is counted; even the unsubstantiated or

President-elect Obama says he plans to use all three of his names when he takes the oath of office in January, giving voice to a name that was used heard during the campaign except by critics.

In his first post-election newspaper interview, with reporters from the Chicago Tribune and Los Angeles Times, Obama was asked: “Do you anticipate being sworn in as Barack Obama or Barack Hussein Obama?"

He replied: “I think the tradition is that they use all three names, and I will follow the tradition, not trying to make a statement one way or the other. I'll do what everybody else does.”

As Politico correctly points out, there is no such tradition. The last three presidents used their middle names as well as Roosevelt and Kennedy but other modern presidents used middle initials or no middle name at all. Johnson, hastily sworn in on Air Force One, did not insert his name at all. Oddest was the case of Harry S. Truman, where the "S" stood for nothing at all!

Court Won't Hear Donofrio v Wells

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court has turned down an emergency appeal from a New Jersey man who says President-elect Barack Obama is ineligible to be president because he was a British subject at birth.

The court did not comment on its order Monday rejecting the call by Leo Donofrio of East Brunswick, N.J., to intervene in the presidential election. Donofrio says that since Obama had dual nationality at birth — his mother was American and his Kenyan father at the time was a British subject — he cannot possibly be a "natural born citizen," one of the requirements the Constitution lists for eligibility to be president.

Donofrio also contends that two other candidates, Republican John McCain and Socialist Workers candidate Roger Calero, also are not natural-born citizens and thus ineligible to be president.

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper won a rare suspension of Parliament on Thursday, managing to avoid being ousted by opposition parties angry over the minority Conservative government's economic plans and an attempt to cut off party financing.

Governor General Michaelle Jean -- the representative of Queen Elizabeth, Canada's head of state -- agreed to Harper's request to shut down Parliament until Jan 26. Parliament was reconvened just weeks ago after the October 14 election.

A temporary parliamentary suspension in Canada is small change indeed compared to the constitutional crisis brewing in the United States should an ineligible person obtain the office of President. All eyes are on the United States Supreme Court tomorrow (Dec 5) to see if the justices will take on the eligibility issue concerning Barack Obama.

The Supreme Court is now faced with a cancer, a malignancy gone wild, because so many government officials, policy makers, party officials and candidates have simply chosen to ignore the law, look the other way . . . do what they damn well pleased!
To which I say, which law or part of the Constitution do we ignore next; the vote for women, or emancipation, or freedom of the press, or the right to bear arms? Which one do we ignore next? Which one?

Chicago is Mr. Obama’s hometown. His transition team is operating out of the Kluczynski Federal Building in downtown Chicago. He is known to be a regular reader of the Tribune, Chicago’s principal newspaper, with a daily circulation of over a half-million readers.

The Open Letter to Mr. Obama is a formal Petition for a Redress (Remedy) for the alleged violation of the “natural born citizen” clause of the Constitution of the United States of America.
Mr. Obama is respectfully requested to direct the Hawaiian officials to provide access to his original birth certificate on December 5-7 by our team of forensic scientists, and to provide additional documentary evidence establishing his citizenship status prior to our Washington, D.C. press conference on December 8.

A First Amendment Petition to any official of the Government for Redress of a violation of the Constitution is substantially different from the garden-variety political petitions frequently received by government officials. This Petition demands it be given the highest priority for an expedited review and official Response by Mr. Obama.

SCOTUS Dilemma re Obama Eligibility....

Perhaps one can sense now why Barack Obama chose constitutional law as his personal field of specialization. It is becoming increasingly clear that Mr. Obama has known all along that he is constitutionally ineligible for President of The United States but has nevertheless mounted an extremely successful campaign which threatens an end run around the Constitution and has brought him nearly to the U.S. Presidency. I will be writing here only about the issue of Barack Obama's dual citizenship, acknowledged as fact on his website, because of his Kenyan Father's status as a British subject. There are other important issues that need airing concerning the validity of the birth certificate posted on his web site and the possible forgery involving Mr. Obama's Selective Service Registration.

Let me be clear from the outset that the constitutional issues clouding Barack Obama's eligibility also pertain to John McCain (born in Panama), Governor Bill Richardson (a dual Mexico U.S. citizen), former Governor George Romney (Mitt Romney's father, born in Mexico) and one Roger Calero, who was on the ballot this year as a candidate of the Socialist Workers Party. Calero is clearly not a U.S. citizen as he is a Nicaraguan here on a Green Card.

This issue of how ineligible candidates were allowed on the ballot will be coming to a head on Dec 5 when the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) has scheduled a conference on the merits of Leo Donofrio v. Nina Mitchell Wells, Secretary of State of the State of New Jersey - no. 08A047

Attorney Donofrio's case seems to be the most promising among the dozen or so that have been filed in various states as well as at SCOTUS. (A Connecticut case has found its way to SCOTUS: No. 08A469 Title: Cort Wrotnowski, Applicant v. Susan Bysiewicz, Connecticut Secretary of State)

A most interesting discussion of the legal ramifications surrounding the "natural born citizen" issue appeared today at TD Blog. (Also see The Federalist Blog) Contributor Judah Benjamin at TD Blog states at the outset that:

The next time you are feeling particularly sure “the fix is in” and that my abiding notion that the main problem with this Election isn’t a gigantic conspiracy but a mass of small conspiracies and cabals and a vast mass of negligence, incompetence, ignorance and just plain a-holeism consider the candidacy of Roger Calero. You might also want to think about Governor Bill Richardson’s candidacy, Richardson is a Mexican-American bipatride and a natural-born Mexican citizen, or national, under the Mexican Constitution. It isn’t just BHO II, not even close.

Judah Benjamin is not at all confidant that SCOTUS will hear Donofrio's case :

....granting that Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Thomas and Kennedy are all either Federalists, or inclined towards the Federalist position, it is my belief that Donofrio’s case will probably not be heard because the whole issue is, as one of my legal friends in England called it “a poisoned chalice”. The Justices can follow the Law and risk calumny and civil disorder, or ignore the plain Common Law reading of the Constitution and risk usurpation and civil disorder.

That's it folks; "calumny and civil disorder" or "usurpation and civil disorder"! Whatever it is it won't be pretty but The Constitution must be defended and amended if warranted.

THE PILGRIMS AS PEOPLE: UNDERSTANDING THE PLYMOUTH COLONISTS

Pilgrims have been the symbolic originators of our familiar November holiday. Legends about the feast have turned it into a mythic event worthy of our emulation. It is a good story, and an important part of our cultural tradition. It helps us remember those hardy English men and women who braved dangers far greater than we have to face today to follow their own consciences and give glory to God. But if we really want to understand them, we must go beyond the legend, important as it is, and try to see the real Pilgrims and the celebration they enjoyed so many years ago....

The people we know as the Pilgrims have become so surrounded with legends that we tend to forget that they were real people. Against great odds, they courageously made the famous 1620 voyage and founded the first New England colony, but they were still ordinary English men and women, not super heroes. If we really want to understand them, we must try to look behind the legends and see them as they saw themselves.

They were English people who sought to escape the religious controversies and economic problems of their time by emigrating to America. Many of the Pilgrims were members of a Puritan sect know as Separatists. They believed that membership in the Church of England violated the biblical precepts for true Christians, and that they had to break away and form independent congregations which were truer to divine requirements. At a time when Church and State were one, such an act was treasonous and the Separatists had to flee their mother country. Other Pilgrims remained loyal to the national Church but came because of economic opportunity and a sympathy with Puritanism as well. They all shared a fervent and pervasive Protestant faith that touched all areas in their life.

THE SECULAR THANKSGIVING FEAST VS THE RELIGIOUS DAY OF THANKSGIVING

(The Pilgrims) brought with them familiar customs, among which were an autumn secular harvest celebration and a Puritan religious Thanksgiving holy day. As we shall see, these two events were totally separate and independent in their minds. It is we, today, who have blurred the differences and merged the two events into one. A secular celebration such as a harvest was an annual event which would of course include the giving of religious thanks to God; acknowledgment of God's Providence was part of most days of their lives. A true Day of Thanksgiving was a completely separate observance.

When the Puritans rejected the old Medieval ecclesiastical calendar of Christmas, Ester and Saint's days, they submitted three allowable holy days: The Sabbath, the Day of Humiliation and Fasting, and the Day of Thanksgiving and Praise. The latter two were never held on a regular basis but only in direct response to God's Providence. When things went well, signaling God's pleasure with the community, then it was proper to declare a Day of Thanksgiving in His praise. But when God's displeasure was evident and events were unfortunate, it was an indication that the community should repent and declare a Day of Fasting and Humiliation. Each of these days were held on weekdays and meant an extra day of church services and devotion in addition to the Sabbath. The Day of Thanksgiving was often concluded with a feast, while the fast days saw voluntary privation.

The harvest celebration of autumn, 1621, was quite plainly neither a fast day nor a thanksgiving day in the eyes of the Pilgrims. Rather it was a secular celebration which included games, recreations, three days of feasting and Indian guests. It would have been unthinkable to have these things as part of a religious Thanksgiving. The actual first declared Thanksgiving occurred in 1623, after a providential rain shower saved the colony's crops.

It was only in the later 19th-Century, when looking back for a precedent for the modern, more secular Thanksgiving of family feasts and football games which had evolved after the decline of Puritanism, that people discovered this first harvest celebration and dubbed it the "First Thanksgiving." They were not interested in what that famous festival meant to the Pilgrims; they were concerned with what it could mean to Victorians like themselves.

Although our governments have chosen to not name any official day marking the end of this war, we the people have taken it upon ourselves to commemorate November 22, 2008 as the day of victory over the forces of tyranny, oppression and terror in Iraq.

Declare Victory.

We have enforced the UN mandate. We have deposed, tried, and executed Saddam Hussein and brought justice to his henchman. We ended Iraq's chemical and biological weapons programs. We have exposed the mass graves. We have made it possible for a representative government to form. We have made possible free and fair elections. We have trained new Iraqi security forces. We have sent untold terrorists to their virgins. Stores are open, girls are learning, there is a future.

War's over. We, the supporters of liberty, won, and so did the Iraqi people. Our troops have done the impossible.

Does that mean Iraq is a perfect example of parliamentary democracy? Of course not. Name a war that we won where the immediate postwar situation was all smiles and sunshine. Iraq has a long way to go, but it now has a fighting chance to get there.

In a sane world, President Bush would be organizing tickertape parades, days of thanksgiving, etc. He won't. Mr. Obama certainly won't.

We need to do it for them.

Said Sisters Murder Case on America's Most Wanted....

Pam Geller at Atlas Shrugs is reporting today that the Said sisters honor murder case will be presented on America's Most Wanted this Saturday (Nov 22).

Finally. Atlas readers know this terrible story intimately. Law enforcement has dragged their feet hoping time would dim their memory and the abject horror of this "controversial" case. Irving law enforcement has been a hindrance to the investigation fearful of offending the large Muslim population int that part of Texas. The FBI finally designated the terrorist father, Yaser Said, one of America's most wanted only to pull the "honor killing" description for fear of offending Muslims by "labeling".

The media has gone out of their way to deceive the public into believing this was not Islamic. It was all Islam, all of it. When the girls ran away, Amina had told a friend that she feared her father would take her to Egypt to kill her ("because honor killings are legal there") and she told a teacher - that her father was going to Egypt to marry her off to "an Egyptian Muslim".

A bitter life of beatings, rape, and psychological abuse ended in death. Although they ran away, their complicit mother Tissie dragged them back to Texas and within 24 hours, both girls full of life and hope -- were dead.

The piece is airing this Saturday will run about 13 minutes long – that’s a lot of time compared to the stories they usually air on the show, but still it’s not nearly enough time to encapsulate the tragic nature of this case. Nonetheless, I truly hope that one of their viewers will come through this Saturday and tell where brutal killer Yaser Said is cowardly hiding. To date, their army of viewers have helped put 1046 fugitives behind bars. I’m praying that Yaser Said will become #1047.

William Ayers, Weather Underground mastermind and Obama confidante, escaped The FBI's clutches because of law enforcement lapses. Now that the election is over, this regular guy from Obama's neighborhood is a most wanted man; by the MSM (Mainsteam Media) that is. He will be interviewed by Chris Cuomo duing the 7 AM segment tomorrow on ABC's Good Morning America. Ayers will join the "free at last" ranks (i.e.Father Pfleger, Rev. Wright, Louis Farrakhan) of those who had to be kept quiet during the election period so as not to spoil the chosen one's chances. Father Michael Pfleger has already spoken as we have noted here.

Honor Our Veterans: Veterans Day 2008

A message from Vets for Freedom:

Today, Americans across this great country join together to honor our military veterans. At town-squares, solemn ceremonies, and school assemblies across this county, we remember the beaches of Normandy, the jungles of Vietnam, the sands of Iraq, and everything before, after, and in between.

We remember that every liberty we enjoy--those we usually take for granted--was purchased and defended by warriors; those willing to stand their post, take the hill, or kick down doors in dangerous places so we can enjoy the American way of life.

Veterans Day is about one thing: honoring the service and sacrifice of America's veterans, and passing their collective story to the next generation. These stories, and the men and women who bear them, are the backbone of this American experiment and must never be forgotten.

As John Stuart Mill once said, "War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing worth a war, is worse." The moment we believe our freedoms inevitable, we cease to live in history and sour the soldier's sacrifice. Our freedoms--purchased on the battlefield--are indeed "worthy of war."

And today, with America still at war, it is fitting that we remember the troops currently serving in harms way. Because, as any veteran can attest, just one moment, one explosion, or one bullet separates Memorial Day from Veterans Day. Soldiers currently in Iraq and Afghanistan are fighting for our freedoms today, knowing it's possible they may never see tomorrow.

Vets for Freedom compels our membership to honor America's veterans this week. Whether at a ceremony, in a letter to the editor, or with a simple "thank you," find a way to ensure that every veteran -- young and old -- feels appreciated.

Seattle, as one would expect, went bonkers after the Obama win. A frenzy of flag purchases, and displays thereof, followed an evening of street dancing and singing. My daughter who lives on Capitol Hill reports hearing a huge roaring sound emanating from downtown.

Reporters for the Seattle P.I. found self described flag virgin Rosemary Garner who exclaims, "The thing that's kind of astounding to me is I never ever would have cared to own a flag...This is the first day in my life I actually feel this funny sense of pride about my country. It's a very foreign feeling, but it's a good one". My daughter writes, "I am, for the first time, truly hopeful for the future of this great country".

Another comment from the news article: "I'm finally proud to be an American again, after eight years of being ashamed," says 66-year-old Mark Lowney. Another says: "It's just a rare feeling to feel that type of, I don't know, national connection," said Noah Kriegsmann, a 33-year-old builder from West Seattle. He feels that Obama's win will help America's standing in the world, and he bought a flag to fly on his truck, though he admitted it felt strange to see the flag in his hand. "I have just historically felt shame for what the symbol of this country is internationally. Being in someplace like Morocco, and Canadians have their flag on their backpacks -- I would never ever do that".

Such confessions remind one, of course, of the "first time in my adult life" remark from Michelle Obama. My daughter in her report on the festivities writes:

It was a momentous evening here in Seattle, I've never witnessed anything like it. Everywhere you went throngs of people were cheering on sidewalks and from their cars, honking horns, dancing in the streets, hugging strangers, and waving American flags. From my apartment, you could hear this constant roar emanating from downtown that continued for several hours. The moment they called it for Obama, a huge crowd converged in the middle of the intersection at Broadway & Pine. Police blocked off the intersection from cars and allowed the crowd to celebrate peacefully, despite the fact that many people ran out into the streets with beers or champagne bottles in hand. A drag queen on the top of Neighbor's (a club) led the crowd in singing God Bless America while people clutched their friends and loved ones and joyfully weeped. Truly moving and inspiring speeches from both Obama and McCain. I hope there is a place for McCain in Obama's administration as I was impressed by his gracious concession and the sincerity of his words. It was like the old McCain was back, before he got worked over by the Republican party, when he was a true maverick.

On Sunday Geller captured Rep. Gerald Nadler on video defending Barack Obama’s 20-year membership at Trinity United Church of Christ. The audio is a bit poor, but Nadler doesn’t mince words. He says of Obama’s actions: “He wasn’t terribly politically courageous.” Incidentally, Nadler doesn’t think much of Obama’s reasons for getting into “community organizing” either, saying that Obama did that to “form his base.

In today's Wall Street Journal there is an extremely interesting article concerning the crowds that Obama draws. The author, Faoud Ajami is professor of Middle Eastern Studies at the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, and an adjunct research fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. he begins:

There is something odd -- and dare I say novel -- in American politics about the crowds that have been greeting Barack Obama on his campaign trail. Hitherto, crowds have not been a prominent feature of American politics. We associate them with the temper of Third World societies. We think of places like Argentina and Egypt and Iran, of multitudes brought together by their zeal for a Peron or a Nasser or a Khomeini. In these kinds of societies, the crowd comes forth to affirm its faith in a redeemer: a man who would set the world right....

"Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one!" (Charles Mackay, author of "Extraordinary Delusion and the Madness of Crowds"

Family friend, poet, and left activist Frank Marshall Davis whom Obama identifies in his autobiography as "Frank" is now put forth as being Obama's actual father. The climate of the times* lends plausibility to the claim that Stanley Ann Dunham and Frank Marshall Davis are the actual parents of Barack Obama. If Obama Wins: The Liberal SuperMajority

An opinion piece in today's Wall Street Journal lays out in great detail what Americans will face if Barack Obama wins the presidency. The editorial begins:(emphasis added)

"If the current polls hold, Barack Obama will win the White House on November 4 and Democrats will consolidate their Congressional majorities, probably with a filibuster-proof Senate or very close to it. Without the ability to filibuster, the Senate would become like the House, able to pass whatever the majority wants."

"Though we doubt most Americans realize it, this would be one of the most profound political and ideological shifts in U.S. history. Liberals would dominate the entire government in a way they haven't since 1965, or 1933. In other words, the election would mark the restoration of the activist government that fell out of public favor in the 1970s. If the U.S. really is entering a period of unchecked left-wing ascendancy, Americans at least ought to understand what they will be getting, especially with the media cheering it all on."

The article continues with a check list of legislation which would almost surely pass if there is a filibuster-proof senate:

- Medicare for all. When HillaryCare cratered in 1994, the Democrats concluded they had overreached, so they carved up the old agenda into smaller incremental steps, such as Schip for children. A strongly Democratic Congress is now likely to lay the final flagstones on the path to government-run health insurance from cradle to grave. Mr. Obama wants to build a public insurance program, modeled after Medicare and open to everyone of any income.
The business climate. "We have some harsh decisions to make," Speaker Nancy Pelosi warned recently, speaking about retribution for the financial panic. Look for a replay of the Pecora hearings of the 1930s, with Henry Waxman, John Conyers and Ed Markey sponsoring ritual hangings to further their agenda to control more of the private economy....Democrats could cause the economic downturn to last longer than it otherwise will by enacting regulatory overkill like Sarbanes-Oxley. Something more punitive is likely as well, for instance a windfall profits tax on oil, and maybe other industries.
Union supremacy. One program certain to be given right of way is "card check." Unions have been in decline for decades, now claiming only 7.4% of the private-sector work force, so Big Labor wants to trash the secret-ballot elections that have been in place since the 1930s. The "Employee Free Choice Act" would convert workplaces into union shops merely by gathering signatures from a majority of employees, which means organizers could strongarm those who opposed such a petition....
Taxes. Taxes will rise substantially, the only question being how high....
The green revolution. A tax-and-regulation scheme in the name of climate change is a top left-wing priority....
Free speech and voting rights. A liberal supermajority would move quickly to impose procedural advantages that could cement Democratic rule for years to come....Felons may also get the right to vote nationwide, while the Fairness Doctrine is likely to be reimposed either by Congress or the Obama FCC....

Special-interest potpourri....The anti-antiterror lobby would be rewarded with the end of Guantanamo and military commissions...Google and MoveOn.org would get "net neutrality" rules, subjecting the Internet to intrusive regulation for the first time.

All things considered we are in for radical change the likes of which we haven't seen since 1965 or perhaps 1933! John McCain is closing the gap and a victory for McCain/Palin is still a possibility. We must redouble our efforts if we are to save our nation from rapacious leftists who crave and covet total power!

The race card is back. After Tuesday night's debate, Washington party-crossover dean David Gergen announced it was "too early" to declare victory for Democrat Barack Obama, not because the election is a month away, but because "Obama is black."....her (Palin's reference to the Obama/Ayers association) attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret."....I don't think Obama and Ayers were pals so much as co-believers of a trendy left-leaning and standards-hostile philosophy on education...And, Ayers is white. So it's hard to figure out how the AP writer construed Palin's remarks as "racially tinged," unless you see race in absolutely everything....According to a Time poll, 43 percent of white men and 48 percent of white women say they will vote for Obama, while 97 percent of black voters support Obama....there is something incongruous in examining the racism in a group that plans on voting more than 40 percent for a candidate of a different color, while ignoring a bloc expected to vote within its color lines almost exclusively....the American voter has demonstrated a conservative streak when it comes to the country's commander in chief. The American electorate has not bestowed more than 50 percent of the popular vote on the Democratic nominee since 1976 when Jimmy Carter won the White House for one term.

Left Hates Free speech (by Conservatives)

A new Michael Barone commentary today takes the left to task for its obvious disdain for free speech when it's conservatives doing the speaking. The article, The Coming Obama Thugocracy mentions many attempts to stifle contrarian views, research, and speech.

(Obama said)I want you to argue with them and get in their face." Actually, Obama supporters are doing a lot more than getting into people's faces. They seem determined to shut people up.

In several instances Obama supporters have threatened criminal prosecution against those who dared to mention Obama's association with various radicals.

....in St. Louis. ,...the Obama campaign called for a criminal investigation of the American Issues Project when it ran ads highlighting Obama's ties to Ayers.

Barone's conclusion:

Obama supporters who found the campuses congenial and Obama himself, who has chosen to live all his adult life in university communities, seem to find it entirely natural to suppress speech that they don't like and seem utterly oblivious to claims that this violates the letter and spirit of the First Amendment. In this campaign, we have seen the coming of the Obama thugocracy, suppressing free speech, and we may see its flourishing in the four or eight years ahead.
